Former Australian Test captain Michael Clarke has revealed his anguish over his great mate Phillip Hughes’s death almost 10 years ago after the star’s family asked him to be in the hospital room when his life support was switched off.
Paris Fury and her children got into the festive spirit early on Thursday as they donned matching Christmas pyjamas for a relaxing movie night in (pictured Venezula, 15, Prince Tyson II, eight, Prince John James, 12, Valencia, six, Prince Adonis Amaziah, five, and Athena, three)
After initially focusing on how soon Hughes would get back to the field and when he would once again wear Australia’s famous baggy green cap, reality began to hit Clarke, who said his mate had become unrecognisable to him.
‘I don’t know about you but I keep looking for him. I know it’s crazy, but I expect any minute to take a call from him or to see his face pop around the corner to call me into the next room for a story and a laugh,’ he said.
‘It does affect the father, but for the woman who carries that child, it is more severe. No matter how much it hurts Tyson, it’s ten times worse for me. But where I’d had time to process the idea, it took him days to face the burial. He said, “I can’t do it right now”,’ he said.
Paris told The Mirror: ‘I had to make the decision, do I tell him? And I came to the conclusion that whatever was happening with me, I couldn’t change it. But I could change dramatically what was happening in his life.’
Paris learned of her miscarriage on the same day Tyson made his long-awaited comeback after three years out of the ring against Sefer Seferi in June 2018 but did not tell her husband until after he had got his hand raised.
Paris explained she learned the awful news during a routine gender scan, when no heartbeat was found and she was later forced to give birth to her deceased child naturally, as she praised staff at the Lancaster Hospital for their support.
Claiming that she loves the family’s Christmas PJ and movie nights, Paris captioned the post with: ‘AD – Ok I know it’s still November, but I lovvvve our Christmas PJ and movie nights and thought why not! So it’s hot chocolate’s all round.’ [sic]
Offering advice to other mothers who have suffered a miscarriage she said: ‘At the time it feels like your world is ripped to pieces. But I know everyone can get through it. Marking Baby Loss Awareness Week in October, Paris reached out to those who have gone through a similar situation, as she candidly shared how ‘lonely’ she felt after experiencing both miscarriage and a stillbirth.
She told then-hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: ‘It started a couple of days before a fight and it was very early on to him returning to the ring and it was early on but I had to keep it to myself…’
